DHS NPCC unit commemorated NPCC Day 2021 by holding a parade in school on 15 April. For us, Valorous Year 3 squad, we had the honour of donning the No. 1 uniform for the first time and participating in the parade with the rest of the unit. We all looked forward to that fateful day after we had prepared wholeheartedly in the weeks prior to this event. Moreover, the parade is of special significance to us as this year, we also celebrate the 65th anniversary of Dunman High School. The theme “Our Heritage, Our Journey, Our Future” resonates with our NPCC unit. The unit has a strong foundation laid down by those who walked before us and has strove to maintain high standards across generations of cadets. We will constantly forge ahead to be better versions of ourselves.
On the day of the event, we arrived early for our final preparations. The air was tense with excitement and anticipation. After a short rehearsal, the parade started and we all marched proudly to the beat of the music. Due to the safe management measures that were in place for COVID-19, we did not have spectators for our parade but this did not dampen our spirits and we continued to execute the drills with precision and spirit. Not only was this parade our first large scale parade, it was undoubtedly also the most memorable experience for our unit as a whole.
All in all, we are glad to be able to partake in this year's parade and have our Principal, Mr Tony Low, to grace the event as our Guest-of-Honour. This will be an occasion that will be treasured by all of us and we hope it did make Dunman High's 65th Anniversary an enjoyable experience for all. Last but definitely not least, we are infinitely grateful to have the strong support of our NCOs and CIs, without whom the parade would not have been possible.
